Presentation of the seventh edition of the book by student journalists “THREE YEARS OF INDESTRUCTIBILITY”

Today, the presentation of the seventh edition of the book “THREE YEARS OF INDESTRUCTION” was held at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian (Carpathian) National University, which was published as part of the publishing project “Between the Text: Journalists for Journalists”. The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Journalists of Ukraine and the 85th anniversary of the university.

The presentation was attended by university administration, teachers and students, representatives of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, media professionals, and invited guests.

Acting Rector Igor Tsependa greeted the attendees: “I congratulate the students and teachers of the Department of Journalism on the next edition of the book. This is important, because young journalists have initiated a new model of interaction – interviews, where beginners take a conversation with experienced professionals. This formula allows students not only to learn the basics of the profession, but also to feel the personality of a journalist, his experiences and experience. The formation of skills needed in the profession begins precisely with communication with people. This format already has a seven-year tradition – and today we have the honor to present the seventh edition. Traditionally, the university supports successful student projects, including financially. This is an element of an educational startup, which is the norm for leading European and American universities.”

Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism, initiator of the project Halyna Prystay said: “For the seventh year in a row, we have been publishing a student book, which is created within the framework of the project “Between the Text: Journalists for Journalists”. Each year, each issue has its own peculiarity. This year’s edition, unfortunately, was created in war conditions – for the third time. The peculiarity of this issue is that the interviews record the history of modern Ukrainian journalism, in particular, facts related to the crimes of the enemy. The book contains 31 interviews with media workers from the Carpathian region and Ukraine, as well as journalistic reflections of students about freedom of speech, professional responsibility and the challenges posed by the war for journalists. Students of 3-4 years of the specialty “Journalism”, who study the disciplines “Publishing Management”, “Publishing Design” and “Publishing Business”, joined the work on the book. They were not only authors, but also editors, layout artists, photojournalists — full-fledged participants in the publishing process. And most importantly, they learned to be in demand and useful for Ukraine.”

The seventh edition has a circulation of 50 copies. The books were donated to libraries, the Department of Journalism, the university, and journalists who participated in the project.

As part of the presentation, the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Liliya Bodnarchuk, presented the students with certificates of completion of the School of Journalism of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Union of Journalists, a practical educational course that is an important part of the professional development of young people.

This initiative helps strengthen ties between education and the media community. The publishing project was launched in 2018. Since then, students have created seven issues, which contain over 300 interviews with media professionals from different regions of Ukraine. The publication is addressed to journalists, students, teachers, pupils – everyone who is interested in the media sphere.
