Student journalists presented 21 original glossy magazines

Today, the Faculty of Philology of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University hosted a presentation of twenty-one student magazine publications “A New Look at the Gloss”, which were published in 2025 as part of the newspaper and magazine project.

Present were the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Roman Golod, teachers, students, and fellow journalists.

“Once again, I am amazed by the creativity of the students. I wish not to stop there, because each magazine is worthy of attention and submission to various competitions,” notes Roman Golod, Dean of the Faculty of Philology.

The first-year students of the “Newspaper and Magazine Production” course participated in the creation of the magazines. The names of the magazines:

“Cropped Wings”, “Formula of Life”, “Coquette”, “M-Space”, “Dark Report”, “Light Through the Darkness”, “City of Flavors”, “IMAGE”, “Spain”, “I Will Remember”, “The Art of Cinema”, “A World Without Borders”, “Reflection”, “The Magic of the Hutsul Region”, “After the Steam”, “The World in Contours”, “Loud Silence”, “Ethno Code”, “Haschi”, “Trendset”, “Stained Glass”.

For eight years, the project manager has been Halyna Prystay, an associate professor at the Department of Journalism.

“Creating original printed publications helps students gain professional competencies, new skills, and tools that they will need in their future profession. This is the first time in eight years that twenty-one glossy magazines have been created. I am proud and grateful to each student for their responsibility, creativity, and perseverance,” says Halyna Prystay.

The goal of the publishing project is to practically improve students’ writing, typesetting, formatting, editing, and layout skills. It is also important for future journalists to learn how to work in a team.

As a reminder, the student publishing project was launched in 2018 within the framework of the academic disciplines “Publishing Management”, “Publication Design”, and “Publishing”. In the process of creating the first author’s student magazines, future journalists communicate with different people in order to pass on the experience of generations, which is important for the professional development of every media worker, as well as to help those who are still deciding on a profession.

Student Iryna Kera notes: “This project is an important stage of development and the first serious milestone in our professional journey, because magazines are just the first page of a great story that we are starting to write together.”
